There are already several weeks where it is not possible to play in the multiplayer modes of Dark Souls on PC. From Software was alerted to a serious security breach at the site, so the first step was to completely shut down the servers at the three main sites in the franchise. Now, we have finally known the current state of the problem.
From the title’s official account on Twitter, it has been assured that the online functions will not be active again until, at least, after the launch of Elden Ring. On the other hand, the next title from the Japanese studio is also under scrutiny.
Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware are aware of the technical difficulties players have experienced with all Dark Souls games on PC.
We want to thank the entire Dark Souls community and players who have reached out to us directly with concerns and solutions. Thanks to you, we have identified the cause and are working to fix the problem.
In addition, we have extended our investigation to Elden Ring, our next title to be released on February 25, and have ensured that the necessary security measures for this game are implemented on all launch platforms.
Due to the time required to set up proper sandboxes, online services for the Dark Souls series on PC will not resume until after the release of Elden Ring. We will continue to do everything we can to get these services back as soon as possible.
