Destiny 2 Witch Queen The Odd One Guide: How To Solve The Rune Puzzle (Memories of Ruin Quest)

During the ‘Memories of Ruin’ quest in Destiny 2 Witch Queenplayers will have an objective that is simply called ‘Puzzle: Rune Patterns.’ To the large stone wall in the center of this area, a message may appear at the bottom of the screen titled ‘The Rare‘, explaining that you need to find the set of runes that is stand out from the rest.


It’s a bit of a vague hint, allowing you to figure out what makes rune sets stand out from the rest, but luckily, we’re here to explain. Destiny 2 Witch Queen’s The Odd One puzzle runes in the Memories of Ruin quest, so you can continue fighting Savathun.


Solving the Odd One rune puzzle in Destiny 2 Witch Queen

On the large stone tablet in front of you, you’ll find eight columns of five runic symbols. To solve The Odd One puzzle, you simply have to shoot three of the columns that are different from the others.


In the example below, the column we’ve circled green has a different rune three from the top compared to the other columns, so we can shoot it.

The column circled in red has a different rune on its fourth row compared to the other columns, so we can shoot that one as well. Finally, the column circled in yellow has a different rune in three of its rows (2, 3, and 4), so we can shoot it.

You will know you have the correct column when a small flame-like glow appears directly above the column. Once you’ve shot all three odd columns, you’ll have completed The Odd One rune puzzle in Destiny 2 Witch Queen.

Please note: The solution to this puzzle will be different for each player, so the columns we have highlighted above will not necessarily be the same for you. The runes are different each time, but with the explanation we’ve outlined above, you should be able to figure it out.
