On previous occasions we have published some news about the problems that it can cause, but in general it is considered that it is a recommended drink, especially if it is not accompanied with sugar, and one of the latest studies on the matter thus confirms it.


At McMaster University, located in Canada, they have investigated what is true in caffeine’s ability to prevent cardiovascular diseases, as well as other benefits that it can provide beyond its practical advantages, as when exercising.


According to what they have found out, coffee helps the liver to eliminate bad cholesterol from the bloodstream and is a plus in the protection against cardiovascular diseases.

Researchers have found thatcoffee consumption is closely related to the levels of a protein called PCSK9. This is very important in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism by helping to break down the one classified as bad, the one that can block the arteries and cause diseases.

In New Atlas they collect what was said by Richard Austin, main author of the study: “caffeine and its derivatives can mitigate the levels of PCSK9 in the blood and, therefore, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease”.

In addition, its scope goes beyond what was expected by also helping to combat diabetes and fatty liver disease.

Obviously, you don’t get such results if you drink your coffee with sugar or if you take it in large quantities, although it’s not clear exactly how much is recommended.

What is known is that coffee consumption is beneficial in general, as long as it is taken in an appropriate measure and except for some personal situations that do not make it recommended.
