After making your way through Raya Lucaria’s Academy, you’ll need to defeat a mini-spell boss in the form of Radagon’s Red Wolf. To give you the best chance of survival, here’s our guide on how to beat Radagon’s Red Wolf in Elden Ring.

How to beat Red Wolf of Radagon in Elden Ring

To start with, the recommended build is around level 35-40, be it a melee or ranged focused build. As a more gigantic cousin to the various wolves you can find in the game, Red Wolf of Radagon is a much more difficult proposition.

The fight takes place in a contained space, and with the boss maintaining much of the control here, all you need to worry about is having enough room to dodge attacks. It’s ideal to stay near the center of the room and avoid the corners.

To effectively beat Radagon’s Red Wolf, you’ll need to stay out of range, play defensively, and only attack conservatively when a window opens. All of his combos have a maximum of three hits, and you don’t have much time to counter with a successful dodge or when his attack misses. The best opportunity to do some damage is after his jump slash, but even then, you should only get one or two hits. If you can call in help using Spirit Ashes, they can also be a great distraction for the boss.

When he uses projectiles, you can avoid them all by simply running sideways. When you see the Red Wolf of Radagon throwing a single or a trio of sword traps, it’s preparing for a long-range lunge, rolling just before it hits you to help you avoid all damage.

If you’re looking to stun the boss or even make him flinch, it’s next to impossible. However, keeping pressure with thrown objects in conjunction with his regular melee or ranged attacks can cause him to stagger, opening him up for a critical hit. Skipping heavy attacks can help, but with the small window, it’s not exactly recommended.

Keep your distance, splash him with ranged spells/attacks, and stab him once he misses his attacks. This is a battle of attrition, but other than that, there are no other nasty surprises waiting in the fight against Radagon’s Red Wolf in the Elden Ring.
