Elden Ring: How to Respect

After a long wait, Elden Ring is finally available for PC and consoles. The game features a huge open world for players to explore, as well as a ton of bosses to fight. There’s also quite a bit of build variety in this game, which is great news for players who want to experiment with different playstyles in a single match or set up a different build for PvP. Here’s how to respect your character in Elden Ring.

Please note that this guide will include a boss spoiler. We’ll reveal the name of the second main story boss found in Liurnia of the Lakes, and also talk about a couple of area names in that area. If you’re happy to meet these bosses and area names, feel free to read on.

How to respect in Elden Ring

  • Go to Raya Lucaria’s Academy in Liurnia of the Lakes and defeat the main story boss there: Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon .You need to beat her to get the Great Rune of the Unborn. You don’t need to activate it on a Divine Tower; only having it in your possession will allow you to start respecting.
  • After defeating her, you can rest in the Great Library’s Place of Grace. The Great Library is the place you want to go when you need to respect your character. Talk to the NPC there to start the process and you’ll be able to reallocate your stat points.
  • Bring a Grub Tear to the NPC in the Great Library to respect your character.Larval Tears can be obtained as pickup items in the open world, and there are some powerful enemies that drop them as well.

Each time you respec your character, you’ll get back all the runes you’ve invested in it so far, and you can reassign them however you like.

Getting larva tears

Larval Tears are pretty rare in the Elden Ring, and from what we’ve seen so far, it’s possible to get a couple of them pretty early in the game. While you’re in Liurnia of the Lakes, there are two Larval Tears you can grab in the southwestern region.

The first is southwest of the Academy Town Gate Site of Grace. Travel southwest until you come to a gazebo where you’ll find a couple of giant crayfish sleeping. To the northeast of the gazebo, you’ll find another crayfish patrolling the area. Defeat it and it will become a Grafted Kindred. Defeat him and you will be rewarded with a Larval Tear.

The grafted Scions are pretty scary though, so luckily there’s another one you can get your hands on and it’s a lot easier to find.

You will need to reach an area called the Village of the Albinaurics, which is located south of Liurnia of the Lakes, as noted on the screenshot below. Just head south in that direction and you’ll eventually see a path leading to the town.

Keep an eye on your right side to pick up a purple item to find your second Larval Tear.

That’s all you need to know about how to respect your character in Elden Ring. Be sure to check out our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
