Elon Musk reveals through a video his plans to conquer Mars

SpaceX’s CEO gave the first public update in two years on the progress of the company’s next-generation space transportation system, already part of NASA’s plans for a crewed Moon landing , and possible trip to Mars.

The presentation took place at the SpaceX facilities in Boca Chica, Texas, with the Starship rocket in the background. Here’s the link to the full presentation.

He claims that with proper preparation, and a lot of test flights, SpaceX can create something that is extremely reliable for human spaceflight, and after several successes , it seems quite likely that SpaceX could go all the way with Starship.
Musk said he expects to send the Starship on its first orbital test flight next month, although reaching that date depends on the outcome of an environmental assessment being conducted by the Federal Administration of Aviation (FAA).

As we can see in the video below, the stages are designed to land and be used again, a feat that SpaceX has already achieved with the first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket.

The immediate goal is to use the Starship for manned moon landings and landings on Mars. A manned flight to the Moon could also take place in the next few years.

NASA has already asked SpaceX to create a moon landing version of Starship, called Starship HLS, for its upcoming Artemis III mission, which will put the first woman and first person of color on the surface of the Moon, possibly in 2025.

Musk believes that if he makes Starship a success, it could be a major step towards his grand ambition of making life interplanetary.

Musk’s plan may sound crazy, and he won’t be around long enough to see it realized in any meaningful way, but he’s laying the groundwork and inspiring people to work for, like likes to say, “make science fiction non-fiction forever”.
