First images of the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which leave no one indifferent

While the production team of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was filming the first scene that we will see of the series, with Galadriel at sea, the statement of the covid as a global pandemic, and the start of lockdowns.

The Rings of Power, the series that will mark a before and after in the ambitions of Amazon Prime Video, is a personal project of Jeff Bezos, a lover of the Tolkien universe, as he is from Star Trek or space travel.

Bezos has made a strong commitment to the franchise not only because of his personal tastes, but also because he has spent years looking for a Game of Thrones-style series that is on everyone’s lips and attracts users to his Prime platform Video.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power takes place thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s films. They are legendary stories narrated in the Appendices of The Lord of the Rings, and in posthumous books such as The Silmarillion.

Since the race of elves is immortal, we will see some much younger movie characters, such as Elrond and Galadriel, who are revealed in the opening photo of the news.

There will also bescenes from the movies and characters named in them. We will see the dwarven Kingdom of Khazad-dûm, where Gandalf faced the Balrog, in all its splendor, with its halls filled with light and crammed with dwarves.

We will marvel at the elves of the kingdom of Lindon, and the mythical human island of Númenor, which in the series will have an air of Atlantis.

We will learn the story of the forger of the rings, Celebrimbor, and of Isildur, who snatched the One Ring to Sauron.

And there will be no hobbits, but their predecessors will appear, the hairy or harfoots, who will add a touch of humor to the series.

The Rings of Power will tell what is narrated in 3 minutes in the introduction of the film The Fellowship of the Ring, by Peter Jackson.

Before the One Ring that came to Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, thousands of years before, there were the 9 Rings of Power, carried by 9 dwarf, elf and human lords. Now we will see how the rings came to each of these gentlemen, and how they corrupted them.

We are facingthe most expensive series in history, widely exceeding 1,000 million dollars in budget.

It is surprising that such an ambitious project is in the hands of two rookie screenwriters, Patrick McKay and JD Payne. But the one in charge of setting the visual and rhythmic tone of the series has been the Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, who has directed the first two episodes.

It is in the faces and characters that Tolkien purists will cry to heaven. Its creators were very clear that they wanted to make a Tolkien series with people from our world, representing everyone. That is why we will see colored elves and dwarves, and other races and ethnic groups that have ceased to be invisible in film and television:

“It seemed natural to us that an adaptation of Tolkien’s work should reflect what our world is really like,” explains Lindsey Weber, executive producer of the series at Vanity Fair. “Tolkien is for everyone. Their stories are about how their different fictional races work better than ever once they stop isolating themselves in their own cultures and decide to come together.”
