Like its predecessor, Horizon Forbidden West features a light RPG mechanic that allows players to upgrade Aloy’s abilities and weapons according to their preferences. But the systems that govern this progression aren’t particularly deep and don’t offer the granular levels of customization seen in full RPG experiences. So here’s what you need to know about if you can respect skill points in Horizon Forbidden West.
Can you respect skill points in Horizon Forbidden West? Answered
As you might have guessed from the introduction, the answer to this question is no: you can’t respect skill points in Horizon Forbidden West. Once you’ve locked down your upgrade options, you agree to stick with them for the duration of the game.
Again, though, Forbidden West isn’t really the kind of RPG where you can really shape a ‘build’ according to different playstyles like you would in, say, Skyrim, Diablo or even Assassin’s Creed. It’s very much an RPG-lite, similar to Far Cry and many other open world AAA games that include progression systems as standard these days.
It remains to be seen whether or not we’ll see this change if (when) Guerrilla Games offers post-launch support in the future. We’re pretty sure the developer will add a New Game Plus mode at some point, so there’s a slim chance they’ll offer some way to honor skill points in that case. We’ll keep you posted if we hear more.
