Yesterday a new Nintendo Direct was held (here you can read the most complete summary), with great surprises announced, new trailers and release dates of games for Nintendo Switch.
As expected, Splatoon 3 was present at the Direct. The new installment of the IP shooter from Nintendo confirmed its launch for this summer… although without giving more details about it.
It’s a joy to see the Salmon mode back Run Next Wave, which in Splatoon 3 will allow us to form teams of 4 players to face the hordes of enemy salmon. Here below you can see the corresponding gameplay.
The fact is that this trailer hides a clue about the release date of Splatoon 3. A group of fans discovered it and shared the find on Reddit… and there’s even a specific release date for the game.
Beyond the window for ” summer 2022”, these players discovered that there is a hidden QR code in the gameplay. Specifically, at the 0:55 mark of the 2:34 minute trailer in total.
Both these players and other media (via GamesRadar) ensure that it is possible to scan this hidden QR. When doing so, we are shown a date: August 18, 2022. Quite a pleasant surprise.
After performing the relevant checks, we confirm that the QR exists, and which in effect reveals said date. We do not know if it refers to the launch of Splatoon 3, but it is likely seeing the window for it summer.
Nintendo has not confirmed this information. We remind you that this QR is hidden 55 seconds into the Salmon Run Next Wave gameplay, which you can see above in this news. Curious to say the least… and suspicious.

Beyond this leaked date, there is no doubt that Splatoon 3 is one of the great Switch exclusives for this 2022. The aforementioned game mode was already available in Splatoon 2, and it was one of favorites for gamers.
Splatoon 3 will arrive on Nintendo Switch this summer, with no confirmed release date yet. If the QR leak is true, that means that the title would be available next August 18, just in time to liven up those summer nights.
