The sequel to Megalodon has already started filming in the UK

The summer of 2018 arrived very cool, full of giant sharks with the movie Megalodon. Maybe it wasn’t the perfect popcorn movie, but that image of a tremendous shark devouring swimmers in floats as if they were cereal will stay in the memory.

And well, let’s hope that the sequel to Megalodon also comes full of spectacular scenes. A few months after the premiere of Megalodon we already knew that a new film was on the way and that it was expected to create a great franchise based on these films.

After a few years without new news about the project, it is confirmed that Meg 2: The Trench begins production. Variety announces that Megalodon 2 has begun filming in the United Kingdom.

The production of Megalodon 2 has begun at the Leavesden studios , just outside London. Leavesden is owned by Warner Bros., so films such as Harry Potter or Batman have been filmed there.

Megalodon – Its director talks about a possible sequel

The first Megalodon film had been directed by Jon Turteltaub, but the director will not return to the saga with the new installment. In his place we will have Ben Wheatley. One of Wheatley’s landmark films is 2015’s High-Rise, based on the dystopian novel by J.G. Ballard.

Although there will be a change of director, it is expected that the leading roles will continue to go to Statham and Bingbing Li. Also returning are the screenwriters from the first film: Dean Georgaris, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber, as well as producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Belle Avery, and executive producer Catherine Xujun Ying.

Megalodon took us to the depths of the Mariana Trench together with the diver Jonas Taylor. Convinced that he had come face to face with a prehistoric being, he tried with all his means to prove its existence.
