This is the official agenda of the Barranquilla Carnival 2022 in March







Barranquilla is less than a month away from enjoying face-to-face events again in the framework of Carnival 2022. This was confirmed this Friday by the organization during the act that served to present the official program.

The agenda contains 18 major events, including folklore, shows, parades and celebrations, in order to preserve its Intangible Heritage, which preserves the identity of the city.

With the endorsement of the National Government, Carnaval de Barranquilla SAS and the District have planned this celebration with three fundamental purposes: to promote optimism in the city, recover jobs and strengthen the economy and continue the preservation of its Heritage.

Schedule begins on 1 March

In this sense, the organization announced that, from March 1, the history of the Carnival “will change, ‘Joselito Vive ‘ will not die, it will be reborn so that we can all enjoy Carnival 2022”.

The Gran Malecón del Río receives the exhibition ‘Río de Tradiciones’, gigantic figures made by artists and master craftsmen inspired in folkloric manifestations and characters of the Barranquilla Carnival.

It is a recognition of the work of the master craftsmen and their families who during For years they have been working on the creation of the colorful floats that adorn the traditional Battle of Flowers parade on Via 40 on Carnival Saturday.

The day of Guacherna

On this occasion, the Carnival will be lived from Friday, March 18 with the great night of Guacherna, a night parade that this year will pay homage to maestro Aníbal ‘Sensación’ Velásquez.

He is exalted as one of the greatest exponents of Colombian folklore, known for being ‘The King of the Guaracha’.

Traditional weekend

For three days, on March 19, 20 and 21, the traditional weekend arrives at the Sagrado Corazón park, with the emblematic dances of the Patrimony and the most representative troupes of the Caribbean culture.

Carnival will make an acknowledgment special to the Dance El Gusano, with 40 years of tradition.

The Coronation of Queen Valeria Charris will be on Thursday, March 24, in which they have prepared a folkloric show, starring the sovereign, who will have as invited an artist of international stature.

Carnival 2022 begins with the Battle of Flowers, on Saturday, March 26 on route 40, which will feature 15 floats made by master craftsmen in honor of the tradition and roots of local demonstrations.

Dance the Street and the Orchestra Festival

Baila la calle, the largest open-air dance floor of Carnival, will be on March 26, 27 and 28with new experiences for dancers.<br
While the Orchestra Festival s returns to the Romelio Martínez stadium on Friday, March 25, with a great tribute to the ‘Prince of Carnival’, Checo Acosta, his music and his contribution to the party.

The thousands of carnival people who gather during the four days of Carnival will also be able to enjoy on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the parades of Great Parade of Tradition, Great Parade of Comparsas, Comedies in the parks, Litanies in Barrio Abajo and Joselito Carnaval to say goodbye the celebration.

With all this agenda, the Barranquilla Carnival returns to face-to-face, in the midst of biosafety protocols and according to the measures that the current situation allows.
