The Ninja Turtles return to video games from the creators of Streets of Rage 4. Dotemu will edit TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, a title developed by Tribute Games that has just been shown in a new trailer. In addition, they have uncovered one of the most beloved characters in the saga, Master Splinter.
“Tribute Games and Dotemu are delighted to turn the master of the turtles, a more passive character, into a full-fledged fighter!”, they have published on the official PlayStation blog. According to the study, its intention is to capture the essence of the elements of the past and honor them in the best possible way. They do not take “lightly” working on an intellectual property of this caliber.
Since Splinter gives off an aura of wisdom, he had to appear calm, which translates into more restrained but not slow movements. In this way, the fighter executes various attacks, jumps, slides and special attacks “inspired by the good memories of the great rat”. The staff he wields is used in both basic and advanced strikes. Thus, when hitting there is a small moment in which he bounces off the ground, so the player has the opportunity to perform combos at that moment.

A devastating flying attack
The master has a flying special attack, which defines it as a kind of Astral projectile. “Ranged Magical Charge is a unique technique only a true master can possess. oh! And he is also the only one who bites! ”.
The studio admits that when they conceived of the character they had very little animated reference to Splinter in battle. “However, the team was able to draw inspiration from the opening credits of the original 1987 cartoon series, during which several images of Splinter smashing through wooden crates appear. That had to be Master Splinter’s special attack,” explained game director Jonathan Lavigne.
Splinter is the sixth playable character in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. Players will also be able to select Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, and April O’Neil. He will be out for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this year.
