Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is already a reality. Nintendo has confirmed during the Nintendo Direct this February the development of the third numbered installment of the Monolith Soft series, the fourth if we count the remembered Xenoblade Chronicles X. A platform, Nintendo Switch, and a date, September, the date on which the players are summoned to discover what is new from the Tetsuya Takahashi team. In this regard, the director of the now leading video game has explained in detail everything we need to know about the title.
Tetsuya Takahashi addresses the fans: development is almost complete
“It has been four years since the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and one and a half years since Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Now I bring you news about the new MONOLITHSOFT game: Xenoblade Chronicles 3”, begins by saying Takahashi, who knows that he is eager to offer more information about the game.
Mekonis is one of the key names of the video game, as we have seen in the trailer. The great sword and the body of the titan of Uraya are the main claims of the art with which Xenoblade Chornicles 3 has been revealed, but what mysteries does that illustration hide? Takahashi does not he can go into detail yet, but he does anticipate that “we envisioned that scene a long time ago,” specifically between the end of Xenoblade Chronicles development and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
“We think this installment will be entertaining both for those who have played Xenoblade Chronicles or Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and for those who are coming to the series for the first time,” he says, so it is understood that the story will have one character more or less independent, although everything will be connected.
Characters, music and the meaning of the flute
Masatsugu Saito is the character designer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3; the same artist who took on the role of designer for the protagonists in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Koichi Mugitani is doing some of the main art on the piece. That familiarity in the development team is also transferred to the musical team, since the sound compositions fall on the phenomenal team of Yasunori Mitsuda, accompanied by Manami Kiyota, ACE (TOMOri Kudo, CHiCO), Kenji Hiramatsu and Mariam Abounnasr.
Finally, Takahashi delves into the role of music in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and, more specifically, the flute tool, a fundamental instrument of this new video game. “The music of the game maintains the unique touch of Xenoblade Chronicles, but presents a new challenge: that of integrating a flute-based melody as the main theme. This instrument is actually one of the central aspects of the game. The trailer also includes other elements and themes in a veiled manner. We will share little by little more details in the future.”, he ends.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will go on sale exclusively for Nintendo Switch this September 2022.
